sydney's concept stores: incu

As opposed to Cara&Co, Incu has a younger and easier appeal. Incu is keen on communicating the brand culture to the industry and customer, and hence attracts more and more young talents. Many young customers in my store read Incu's blog and knows who is the label's director of the year.  Incu's cool casual style suits not only the young ones but almost everyone.

sydney's concept stores: cara&co

Right after I took the job at Ck Calvin Klein, I got a chance of interviewing by Cara&Co Sydney store.  Being known as the world's best 10 retail stores, Cara&Co not only presents the most creative designs worldwide but also engaging with charity. Most recently in March, Cara&Co had an exhibition auction in the Sydney Westfield store supporting The Sound World Foundation. aims to give deaf children from low income families a chance to hear the world.

Business ideas- 3d printing & fashion

Hoon Chung 3D Printed Shoes

eco.
3D printing is a zero-waste technology. There are more materials designed for 3D printing technology, more than hard plastics, just like textiles are provided to the fashion industry. In the above pictures, the shoes seem like in a improved soft wearable rubber material.

These 3D printed medals were designed by Ted Noten. The award includes 6 different categories:

customer profile: questions to ask for the survey

To build up a customer profile, ask these questions to young CK customers at 20s

1, what other brands do you like?
2, what other stores do you shop at?
3, what magazines do you read?
4, what fashion websites do you go on?
5, how do you distribute you income?
6, what in a garment that makes you decide to buy it?

generation Y designers - Mary Katrantzou

Mary Katrantzou, my imaginary competitor. Her garment shape is extremely simple, and mostly woven. There is lacking a sense of movement in the design. Both she and IVH designs with photoshop. Photoshop can generate 2.5D, almost 3D-like imagery. My goal is to go beyond that boundary and design real 3D imagery with 3D software.

3D motif test

What is the strength of 3D image compared to 2D?

a new level of texture, lighting and tonal effect
realistic three-dimensional representation of form
There is potential to experiment with the interaction between space and body, by applying three-dimensional looking motifs to the body to manipulate its proportions

generation Y designers- Iris Van Herpen

Iris Van Herpen and 3D printing technology. The collections are mind-opening but more like an art installation rather than wearable fashion, amazingly they were presented on the catwalk with the other classic couture collections. After Martin Mergiela left, IVH might be the most daring collections among all the couture shows.

Fashion Blogging

Today in the morning lecture we had Fashion Hayley to come in as our guest lecturer!

She is adorable and with an excellent sense of humor. Because her speech was very engaging, i actually found the 1 hour went too fast. She talked about some of the important natures of internet communication in relation to the development of contemporary fashion. She gave examples of some most poplur international and local fashion blogs at the moment.I added the links to those blogs here.

I enjoyed reading these bloggers' insights for fashion because they are unofficial, that means less commercial and it reminds me of my passion for fashion. The ideas in the blogs are crazier, out-spoken, all about the street and underground fashion. She mentioned Penthouse Mouse, an retail and event space for Australian fashion.

It was very evocaive. Thank you, Hayley. I will start following your blog.

The colour, texture and mood speak to me more than the shape and construction.

Freja Beha Erichsen

This is a photo of her in Freja inspires many people including myself. Love her careless attitude, her 16 delicate tattoos, and every transformation of her in the photoshoots.  Freja has different souls in her body. She is a woman, she is a man; she is sad, she is fun; she is a fairy, and a rocker; she is a poet, representing the biggest fashion names of the century on the runway of Paris. She is mysteious, her offstage shots are as charming as her editorial shoots. She is a muse because she feeds all your imaginations.

A link for myself to always go back.

Silhouette - Paul Poiret Kimono Coat

Comparing to all the exquisite designs created by present-day's designers, Paul Poiret's kimono coat still remains to be one of my favourite piece. Liking the oversized silhouette, graceful aesthetic, transition of lines and volumes, and the bright colour.
